Stroller Advice

I have been doing some research on carseats/strollers/travel systems and I have having a really hard time making a decision.

I would really like a jogger.  I want to get out and exercise shortly after the baby is born, if possible.  Also, we would really like one for the times we go on campus and do other outdoor things.  I've heard regular strollers don't work well on grass/gravel etc.

I would prefer to purchase one as a travel system to save money, but they are few and far between.  Does it make more sense to purchase a stroller frame that will work with any car seat and to purchase a jogging stroller separately?  What is the earliest my LO can go on in stroller without the support of its infant seat.

If you have a system/stroller that you love, let me know what it is.  Thanks for the help...I don't know why on Earth this decision is overwhelming me so much.

Re: Stroller Advice

  • IMHO, if you're only getting 1 stroller I'd get the BOB Revolution jogging stroller. The front wheel swivels but can be changed to a fixed position (which is very important that you jog with a fixed front wheel!).

There's also a BOB infant seat adapter (sold separately) so you can use it walking from birth. If you were to use the BOB without the seat adapter, then you have to wait until DC is ~5-6months at the earliest (depending on how early they develop strong head/neck control).

The travel system works great for when they're infants but honestly the stroller itself is pretty bulky and if you get a seat adapter you can use the BOB stroller just like you would a travel system anyway.

I think I ran the first time at 6 weeks (which is the earliest most OBs will allow anyway).

We have the Chicco travel system & the BOB Sport Utility Stroller. But the BOB was a gift from my parents and I use it only for running (the wheel doesn't swivel so it's not convenient for tight turns in places like stores). And the Chicco is very safe and I've really enjoyed it but I think now I actually would prefer either an umbrella stroller or something more streamlined but I haven't purchased anything else yet.

Off the subject, the Chicco umbrella stroller is great! I have really liked it. You might want to check it out. It's about $60.

  • I think Baby Trend has a jogging stroller type w/ a car seat attachment - that's what I would probably do if I could redo it.

or the BOB Rev like Amanda posted

(I also have teh chicco capri for when they are older - and you just need a small stroller - it's great)

  • When I was pg I looked into the baby trend jogger travel system, but the reviews were not very good, fyi.

We ended up getting the Baby Jogger City Elite and love it. It's my favorite baby item purchase still. It is super easy to fold up and doesn't weigh a ton, even though it's a large stroller. Like the BOB it also has a wheel that can be locked in the fixed position or you can put it in swivel.

You have to buy the car seat adapter to turn it into a travel system, but it can be used with most infant carriers.

I HIGHLY recommend the stroller. They aren't cheap... but the way I figure, it will be our only stroller, so I'm saving money by not buying multiple ones.

Katie has the same stroller. Maybe she can chime in.

  • I have the baby trend jogging stroller travel system and I love it. I would def. recomend it. It is also not as expensive as some of the othr travel systems. I was in a 3 mile run with it a month after Jake was born and it performed wonderfully and still does. Its also gender neutral.
