I think i had my first ultrasound around 8 weeks. I was spotting and a bit freaked out so i went to the doctor. At that point all they saw were two sacs and we weren't sure if one would vanish. The next ultrasound was 2 weeks later where we saw 2 heartbeats. Then i had another ultrasound 4 weeks after that where everything looked good. Then the normal 20 week one where i found out the genders.
My first doctor appointment was at 8 weeks and they did an ultrasound to date the pregnancy and see what was in there i'm assuming. And i almost fell off the table when i saw two! I thought at first it was the baby and the yolk sac and then i thought well that looks a little big to be a yolk sac and the tech said well you've got two babies in there! look two heartbeats! and i burst into tears and was like OMG!!! And my DH had the biggest cheese grin on his face and then she said well it looks like they're gonna be identical and then i started to cry harder i just couldn't believe it! She then said that had not even crossed your mind did it? and i was like NO! We planned the pregnancy and it only took us one try to get pregnant so i guess that was my surprise lol It truly was the most shocking moment of my life and i will never ever forget it!
We didn't get to hear the heartbeats until around 11 weeks though..that was my next appointment after 8 weeks. And then at my level two ultrasound at around 19/20 weeks we found out they were both girls!
I actually found out exactly one year ago today. I was 7 weeks, and they saw 3 sacs and heard 3 heartbeats, It was the most emotional day of my life. But now, a year later, I wouldn't change it for the world. !
It was at my first appt. I was 8 weeks... I don't know why it took me so long to realize I was pregnant. No symptoms maybe. But it was very clear at the first ultrasound I had two babies in there. They did not try to listen for the heartbeats at that time.
My dr always does an early u/s to date the pregnancy. I didn't know how far along I was so when I went in it turned out I was only 6w4d and we saw two sacs and 1 h/b. She suspected a vanishing twin and had me come back in a week and there were 2 h/bs.
My 1st u/s was at 6 weeks (or so we thought) and we only saw one yolk sac. I was bf'ing though and the dating was off. We went back 2 weeks later and saw 2 babies and 2 heartbeats : )
At 11 weeks we listened for HB only, and only heard one. Went in for an u/s at 12 weeks and were surprised to see twins. We had no reason to suspect twins prior to the u/s.

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks 1 day and saw 2 sacs. My second ultrasound was at 6 weeks 1 day and we saw 2 sacs, fetal poles & heartbeats. My RE released me after that.
At 11 weeks we listened for HB only, and only heard one. Went in for an u/s at 12 weeks and were surprised to see twins. We had no reason to suspect twins prior to the u/s.

I went in for an u/s at 5 weeks 3 days to make sure my pregnancy wasn't ectopic since I was having a lot of cramping.... well surprise surprise we saw two sacs and then we went two weeks later for a follow up and saw them both continuing to grow.
5.5 weeks. I had been spotting since I found out at 8dpo. They were just little yolk sacs, no heart beats. We went back at 6.5 weeks and there were two little heartbeats.
I found out at my first prenatal appt - 8w3d. I had irregular cycles leading up to my pregnancy and thought that I might be further along than I was. Nope - right on track, just 2 babies with 2 strong heartbeats!
My first ultrasound was at 7 weeks, but we didn't hear the HB. Just saw them flickering on the screen. My dr didn't use the doppler until I was 15weeks
Had some spotting and was sent for and u/s at 6w4d. Found 1 gest sac, with 2 yolk sacs, 2 embryos and 2 heartbeats. Crazy day that was! Had ZERO reason to suspect twins. I caught someone's heartbeat via doppler (I work in ER so I played on a quiet shift at 11w ) Can't manage to find the 2nd h/b, but I hear it can be difficult to find the second this early. Hearing one right now is wild!

Had my first u/s at 20 weeks and found out then.
The heartbeat thing only picked up one at my 12 and 16w appts. They did not suspect twins.
