FSH is Follicle Stimulating Hormone. FSH is an indicator of ovarian reserve. The FSH:LH (Leutenizing Hormone) ratio is often an indicator of PCOS. Without PCOS you should have a 1:1 ratio of FSH:LH, with PCOS your LH will be higher than your FSH.
Ovarian reserve will tell you how well you ovulate and can indicate how well you will respond to treatments such as Clomid.
If you had your b/w done on CD3 this is the typical scale that is used:
Under 6 = Excellent
6-9 = Good
9-10 = Fair
10-13 = Diminished
Over 13 = No stimulation
ETA: I should also say that your FSH should be looked at in conjunction with your LH. For instance, my FSH is 1.4 which is an excellent number but my LH is 2.8. So looking at the two numbers together my FSH is not high enough for proper ovulation.
