Texas Babies

When did you start to register?

This is actually from my hubby...he wants to know when everyone started to register for baby stuff. We are just about 11 1/2 weeks along right now. I didn't really register when I had Kat because I was in college and a single parent and there were lots of issues at that time with family not being happy and everything. We got a ton of stuff but none of it was registered for by me. I don't really know what is considered proper etiquette for that. What say you?

Re: When did you start to register?

  • its easier once you know the sex if you are finding out.
  • I started one online around 14 weeks, and went to BRU at about 17 weeks to do some stuff in store. We didn't know gender then, and it was hard to register for some things. But you can do so much online right now that I just went back and added some stuff or changed colors after we found out. I think I registered really early, but my shower is also earlier than usual because of the twins...I didn't want to wait and risk bed rest or just being really huge and uncomfortable. I still add things here and there as I think about them or see them online. I registered at Target too but did all of that online.

  • Thanks girls! I told him that I figured about 18 to 20 weeks. I am not sure when all of the showers will be, but one will be sometime in August when Kat is home. I believe there will be between 2 and 4 showers...one thrown by one of my best friends from grade school on, one by his office, one by the store I'm working at, and possibly one from some friends of my mom's. It is possible his sisters will throw one but I don't know. We shall see. I truthfully don't care if we find out but he wants to...big time. He doesn't care whether it is a boy or a girl but still wants to know. I didn't find out with Kat...but I knew from the day I found out I was pregnant that I was having a girl. My suspicion this time is again girl. :) We are doing the nursery in some of my designs I created so I'm not worried about getting things that are any specific theme because none of those will match my designs. :)

I'll fill him in on your thoughts. :)

  • Just thought I'd throw this out there... I registered at BRU and Amazon. Amazon registry was/is awesome... the same stuff that BRU has but usally cheaper, no tax, and free shipping. All my mom's friends thought it was great and they were thrilled to shop from home :)

So did my non-baby friends... we all know how un-fun BRU is when you're not in baby mode :)

  • Lauren that is good to know. Most of our friends would care less where they have to go though. They have been 4000 times more excited than we have been. It is hilarious.
  • I think we registered at 24 weeks and def after you know the sex.  We registered at Babies R Us and Target, even though I loathe Target and their return policy and that they change their stock every three months.
  • I also did Amazon registry and LOVED it
  • I registered at 21 weeks and after we knew what we were having
