RNJack

Hey Jackie.

Ironically, I was at Baptist over the weekend!  It is right next to the house, so our first stop.  However, SIL recommended to me to register at the hospital that i will be delivering at already so that if God forbid we have another scare or issue, I can go straight to maternity ward.  Is this true?  The problem is that we still don't know what to do w/ the OB situation!

Another question... do you have any recommendations for a great perinontolgist (sp)?  I may need one... going to inquire this week at my followup appt.

Thanks!

  • jackie- *butting in* did you go to the ER or to maternity triage at Baptist?  I know ify ou have another scare, you can go straight to the triage in the the birthday center- that's where I went every time!  When I went thef irst time (at jackson) they took all my info, the next time I had an emergency, I went in and all my info was on file.  They still have to ask you the round of questions and get your insurance info all over again (they did this at baptist, too, even though i had pre-registered) but it's not as time consuming as if they didn't have everything on file.

for the peri- there's a great group at Baptist, on the top floor.  They're called South Florida Perinatal Medicine- they also have a group at South Miami.  i saw Dr. Lai and I loved him (my dermatologist actually saw him during her pregnancy, too lol)  https://sfpm.us/index.html

  • Thanks Jen!  I never even thought about going to Maternity... and of course ER registration didn't offer it either.

I was actually able to move up my first OB appt to this week, so I'll be inquiring (all along, I've been going to RE only).

  • Wow how weird...I'm assuming then that an OB doctor didn't see you in the ER. That really sucks :( I'm not 100% sure about the whole registering thing with L&D but def check it out. And I also recommend Dr. Lai and his group at baptist (south Florida perinatology). They are great and will do tons of ultrasounds there. -j

jackie, if you go to the baptist health care website and click on "tour the hospital" it'll show you a video and tell you where to go exactly in case of a pregnancy emergency!  I think South Miami's link will tell you the same thing!
