Returning a Swing??

Our friend was going to loan us hers, but she fell through on that.  We have some gift cards to Wal Mart to use up anyways--but I was curious whether you think the swing would be something that could be returned if it was immediately obvious LO didn't like to swing.  I know some people say this was their biggest waste of money, and others say it was a lifesaver--and I hate not knowng whether it will be worth it or not!!

Re: Returning a Swing??

  • And sorry, this may seem obvious (I would think it could easily be returned), but I'm curious why so many say that they didn't use the swing but a couple of times, but never returned it...so I was wondering if I wouldn't be able to take it back after we put it all together or something...

  • Unless its broken, I know that both Babiesrus and Walmart want the product back in the box for a return.  So you would have to be super careful with it and gentle taking it apart.  On top of it, you would need to save all the packaging.

  • I just wanted to let you know that our dd did not like the swing at all for the first little bit, but from around 5 weeks on she loooooved it! She would sleep for super long amounts of time straight in it. I think you may need to give it a few tries, in the beginning they are so tiny, they really just want to be near their mama's:) I always wonder if people try them again when babies are developmentally a little older when I hear these stories. Sorry, didn't really answer your question but I thought that might help you feel better about getting one.

This must not be true for all babies r us......we bought a bassinet there & when I got it home and put it together I hated it.  I realized I just wanted something classic & functional so we ended up shelling out the $$ for the pottery barn bassinet.  We took it into BRU fully assembled and brought the box and they took it back.

That being said, it may take awhile for you to realize what your LO likes & doesn't like & I don't think it's right to return used goods in that kind of situation.  That's just my opinion though

  • I'm with the PP. My DS hated the swing until he was nearly 8 wks old and then he loved it. If your LO doesn't take to it right away I would definately give it a little while before returning it. Ours was a life saver!
