Anyone wash Chicco carseat?

Poor DS has had thrush several times over the last 2.5 months.  We are now in the process of cleaning our house everyday to try to decrease the yeast in our environment.  I really really want and need to take the cloth cover off of his Chicco Keyfit 30 carseat and throw it in the washer but I'm scared I won't be able to get it back on or might have other problems.  Anyone washed theirs?  Did you put it in the dryer or air dry?  How did it turn out?  TIA!

  • I need to do this too, not because of thrush but because it is just dirty.  There are probably directions in the manual.

  • Im pretty sure you are not supposed to removed that stuff from the carseat...Iam not sure about the Chicco, but I know my older sons FFing seat cover specifically says not to remove...

  • I just went to the website and looked at the manual.  There are instructions on how to do it.

  • I washed the cover before I used it (I have the Chicco Key Fit 30).  I washed it by itself on a gentle cycle and let it air dry and had no problems with it at all.

Just watch how you're taking it off the seat so that you can easily put it back on correctly, there are a bunch of loops that need to fit back onto the seat in certain places so pay attention and avoid the frustration I initially experienced!  Big Smile

  • I washed it in gentle  cycle and put in the dryer in gentle as well and it was really easy to put back.
  • I washed mine no problem. dont put it in the dryer though- I called chicco about it and they said to avoid the dryer.
  • I've washed the shoulder straps but not the cover.  He spits/drools on the straps (the pads, not the actual straps, sorry) all the time.

The cover has just gotten dirty with crap falling in it so I just vac it out.  However, I'm not afraid to wash it if needed (as in, a blow out).

  • Thanks ladies, I'm gonna be brave and wash the cover now.  I really wish I could wash the straps too but oh well.  Too bad DS and I are now stuck at home for the day since he won't have a functioning carseat....

Can't you take the straps off too? Maybe not..? I could have sworn I washed the straps before passing the car seat on to DD2, but maybe I'm thinking of some other baby thing.

Like pps said, I just washed in cold on gentle cycle and air dried. Perfect and no shrinking :)

  • I washed it and it's air drying although it came out of the washer only damp so looks like it won't take forever to dry like I feared.  It was also really easy to remove the cover and doesn't look like it will be too hard to put back on.
