Yesterday I went to my GP after having two weeks of nausea and weight loss with no period in sight. I haven't had a period since mid February. Every hpt I took was neg. I have been trying to get into a gynecologist, but since I moved I haven't found a new one. Anyways, so I went to the GP who took my weight and said that he didn't like my symptoms. He ran some blood tests and my white blood cell count had dropped. He then told me to the ER where they could do some tests instantly instead of waiting for weeks for me to get scheduled for an ultrasound and a CT scan. I got into the ER at about 10am. They did a pelvic exam and couldn't find anything and gave me some medication for the nausea. They then did an ultrasound and CT scan. I was at the hospital by myself because dh was home with the kids. After waiting 4 hours for the results, the ER dr. came in and told me that the CT scan showed that I had multiple swollen lymph nodes in my abdomen next to my right ovary. He told me that it could be mesenteric adenitis, which is basically a viral infection that affects the lymph nodes in the abdomen and goes away within 3 days, but the most common symptom is excruciating pain, which I don't have, and it is most commonly seen in adolescent boys and young children. He then gave me prescriptions for antibiotics because he said that if it is adenitis, it only lasts 2-3 days. I told him once again that I have been experiencing nausea for 2 weeks. He told me to just take the antibiotics and to see a oncologist, my GP, and a gynocologist first thing monday morning. If they are still swollen on monday, then it is definitely not adenitis. I started crying and asking him what type of cancer he was thinking and he told me to just make sure I get into the doctor first thing on monday and that a lot of cancers are highly treatable and not everyone with cancer dies. I am literally a mess. I am trying to focus on my two kids and do everything I can to not think about this, but it is so difficult. Has anyone experienced anything like this and had it be something besides cancer. My mom looked up mesenteric adenitis online and it has basically the same symptoms as appendicitis and comes on acutely. I don't have any of those symptoms.

I hope that it's just the viral infection and clears up quickly. Thoughts and prayers for you.

Wow...see my post above. Just had an ultrasound today after my gyno found some fluid-filled cysts around my ovaries...I'll be getting blood tests done if what they found yesterday was cause for concern.
I can SO understand the fear/anxiety/worry you're going through right now. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days.
Hang in there.
