The only maternity bathing suit I got is when I was pg for my 1st and I ended up looking like a ginormous watermelon....it was pink with black polka dots lol
Get a regular tankini because personally I think maternity bathing suits are way overpriced and not very flattering.

My favorite verse!
I had a maternity bathingsuit...the top did double duty. Personally I don't like to see bare pregnant bellies. They are not attractive as far as I'm concerned (maybe to you and your DH they are...but to strangers...not so much).
I say go with whatever you are comfortable with. A tankini is another option too.
I just bought a couple of tankini's from Land's End that will also be great if/when I get pg.
If you are REALLY pg in the summer a regular tankini is very uncomforable, I remember last summer I thought the same thing as you and I was so wrong! I just bought a regular cheapo bikini in size huge (get bottoms and tops that tie so the suit can expand a little with you if needed) and I wore a tank top over it most of the time.
I bought a maternity suit w/ #2. I knew I would be taking #1 to the pool and wanted to be covered. With #1, we camped at the lake and I spent all weekend in the lake in a sport bra & shorts.
