Great opportunity to give and teach

a mom I know just started a Houston chapter of Family-to-Family. You might have seen a piece about them if you watch the Today show. this is a really great organization where you can give to families in need where you also get a chance to develop a relationship with the family AND it's a great way to teach your own kids about charity and compassion.

for me, this is a very easy way to help a family in need that lasts all year long, not just a toy at christmas. feeding families is so important- hungry kids have such a hard time doing the things they need to do to break the cycle of poverty- get to school, focus while they're there, learn what they are being taught!

also, you send a small package every month with supplies that you and i probably take for granted. this month's "theme" is dental care. i took truitt to Target and he helped me pick out toothbrushes for our family, as well as dental floss and toothpaste. i used a Rx transfer gift card and got enough stuff to last almost a year for the family of 4 at only $15 out of my own pocket. more importantly, i got to speak with truitt about giving and how some people do not have what we have. we will do this every month for a year, buying things like deodorant, shampoo and school supplies.

 you can participate on your own, but if you want to join the houston (giving) chapter that was just started that will help us possibly become a recieiving community as the organization grows.
