Do you wake to change?

DS usually gets up between 2-5 times a night, during the growth spurt it is 5. I change him everytime he wakes to eat. I find the nights he only gets up twice I am changing his whole outfit cuz he soaked through. If he goes more then 3 hours hes soaked. Should I be waking him to change him more often? Anyone else have this problem?

Also we are using the NB pampers swaddlers, is there a better diaper out  there for nighttime protection?

We use pampers and LO goes from about 9pm until anywhere from 5-8am in the same diaper. It gets pretty full, but doesn't leak or anything. She hasn't had diaper rash or anything yet either.

I do not wake to change. If he's uncomfortable, he'll wake up. We use coconut oil on his bum to protect from rash, as a preventative measure. Also, we're using CDs, so I can't help with sposie advice. GL!

Maybe try using size 1's?  If he isn't completely swimming in them, maybe it will give a little more surface area to soak up.  It could work the opposite though if they are way too big for him though.

We usually, but don't always, change his diaper only when/if he wakes up to eat. Pampers were leaky for DS, but Huggies work on him (I know it's opposite for some babies). Also, have you tried a larger diaper size?

This... I started getting leaks when it was time to go from NB to Size 1.

The size 1's are still big on him, but maybe I'll try them just at night. Thanks ladies.

With boys I think it's different - with girls when they pee it goes straight into the diaper, whereas with LO it goes wherever his penis is pointing - hence leaks. I'd change him more frequently.

We only change him at night when he wakes for feedings, or unless we know he's wet or poopy.

This is what I was going to suggest.  I didn't change her at night unless there was poo.  She would soak sometimes until we switched to a bigger size.  Now that she is STTN, there is NO way I will be waking her up just to change a pee diaper.

Even though my LO is only 8 lbs, he was soaking through the NB diapers at night.  We switched to 1s at night (NB during the day still) and it has worked for us!  The 1s look huge on him, but they work!

Make sure his penis is pointing down when you change him. I have changed DS's diaper twice in the last hour because he is soaking through but yesterday I had a size 1 on him and he soaked through it too...I'm beginning to think it's hit and miss for boys.

Your LO may need a bigger diaper.  I only change DS if he has pooped, if it's just pee I leave him alone.  I personally am a Huggies person (the huggies little snugglers) and found DS only leaks if his diaper is too small.
