Our oldest son was baptized in a Lutheran church, which traditionally on my husband's side uses 3 godparents per child (which our son had). The godparents received certificates, etc.
We have since been attending a Methodist church that doesn't really address godparents at all (even though we still had 3 for our 2nd son). Since they aren't recognized by the church anyway, we've just asked our closest friends (a married couple) to be godparents of both girls.
Re: Godparents for multiples
We are going to do separate. Why do they have to share when singleton babies all get their own?
I do know that in some families, there is only one set of Godparents for all siblings. I guess if that's the case, then I would do one set.
