Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Naps

Does your LO take them? b/c mine refuses.
I'm lucky if I get 10 - 15mins once or twice a day.

At night she sleeps in 3 hr stretches between nursing.

I've tried recreating the scene with lighting, noise, etc... but nothing helps.
I get nothing done and have no "me" time.

Help!

Re: Naps

  • swaddle!! LO used to be the same way. She's usually awake for no more than 2 hours and starts to get fussy and sleepy, so then I swaddle her. she fights it for a bit, then passes out. she actually just woke up from a 2 hour nap.

  • Give it time.  Naps will come with time.  Do you family that can come take the babe for a little while during the day so you CAN get "you" time?  Even just an hour would do loads of good for you (and your babe).

  • I'm in the same boat.  DD will give me possibly one 20 minute nap a day.  Thankfully she STTN, but by the time she's down at 9:30 I'm too exhausted from her awake time to do anything more productive than sit on the couch and watch tv.  I look forward to seeing if other people have more productive responses.

  • DS is a great napper...when he's in his swing!  Have you tried anything like a swing or bouncer?  It's a bad habit, I know, but he takes great naps and it helps me get some me time.

I also agree with swaddling.  When I do have him nap in his crib, swaddling keeps him asleep longer.
