C section mommas

Do any of you get a charlie horse type feeling ripping across your abdomen at random?

I get them on either side and random times. Feels like a charlie horse. Awful feeling. I'm wondering if this is just in section moms or in others. Is it my body giving up on ever having abdominal muscles or is it something else?

I hate it. OUch.

  • I get a sharp pain (like a sting) on the right side where the had to make my incision bigger...but never a charlie horse feeling.  That sounds awful!  Have you mentioned it to your doctor?

  • The ends of the incision will hurt from time to time but it's more of a sting.  It started itching on the inside like crazy once I got pregnant with #2 and Dr. said it was the scar tissue stretching.  No charlie horse pain though.
  • I have mentioned it. He said something about abdominal surgery messing with muscles. I know I have adhesion from the section. Hmm...

Ok. Yeah its like a charlie horse. I'll have to stand up and lean for it to go away. Nowhere near the incision but reminiscent of a contraction.

  • Not me, but to be fair, I have a lot of dead nerves from being gutted like a trout for my gastric bypass.
  • Don't hate me for this but yes, I did used to get that feeling.  Doc checked it out when DS was about 3 months old and it turned out to be gallstones.  I am now gallbladder-less.
  • I don't feel that either. Hopefully it's something that will go away!

I do have a constant itching lately though. It's driving me crazy.

I don't have the shooting pain but it itches from time to time

  • I have gotten that from time to time.  I just take it a sign to go back to doing my ab excercises, which seem to help.  They are really easy, basically when you are sitting down with a straight back, suck in your stomach, imagine pulling your belly button to your spine and hold for 30 seconds then squeeze even harder for 5 seconds, then release. The other one I do is while sitting up straight hold in your stomach half way, and then pull it all the way in and back to half way 100 times-quick pulses.  I do five sets of each type 2xs a day, and then 3 sets of each before bed. Takes about 7 minutes each time. It seems to help and is less stressful on the abs than sit-ups. Also easier to squeeze the exercise in since I can do them in the car, sitting at the computer, wherever.
