High-Risk Pregnancy

First Baby, High risk

I am a high risk pregnancy and my baby so far only has dilated kidneys but I just found out today that being in hot tubs while pregnant is bad for the baby, in the very beginning of my pregnancy I was in a hot tub at least four times for about twenty to thirty minutes each time, but I got blood done to see if there were any neural tube defects and they all came back negative, do you think I have anything to worry about?

  • My son was born with dilated kidneys - still has slight dilation in both.  Docs are confident they will resolve on their own.

With regard to the hot tub, you can't change it, so try not to worry, it's what my OB said about alcohol before I knew I was pregnant.

  • Not to say that hot tubbing isn't a bad idea, knowing that I shouldn't I wouldn't.  However, my best friend hot tubbed like crazy when she was pregnant with her DS, she knew she wasn't supposed to, but did it anyway.  he  was full term and healthy he is now 6 years old and hasn't had any issues.  I wouldn't worry too much!

  • all you can do is affect the present and plan for the future...worrying about it now will not change it, so stop beating yourself up over it...it will get easier to accept as time goes on...have you seen MFM or your peri yet?
