P is currently with FIL 3 days and a babsitter the other 2 days. She will more then likely be starting full time daycare at a center in June. Do you suggest easing her in a couple of hours a day for a week or what???
She has always been an easy going, flexible kid, so (knock on wood) I don't see it being too much of a problem. I'm just a little nervous about her being there all day and OMG, how the heck is she going to lay down on a mat at nap time. She won't even sit on the couch with me. LOL, getting a little ahead of myself here. Ok.
Any advice on this transition?
Re: xp advice transitioning 18 mnth to fulltime daycare
I'd ease her in a couple of hours a day for a week or so, just so she gets it and she understands that you're coming back and what's going on. this way by the time she's there full time she's more comfortable with the kids and the teachers.
It will be an adjustment at first, but she'll be fine. It will probably be harder on you than her!
My mom has watched my niece every weekday since she was born while my sister works. She just started daycare twice a week this week and is doing wonderfully.
It was recommended to her to start with 2 full days a week instead of a few partial days because by the time she would settle down, it would be time to leave and she wouldn't have extra time to interact (if that makes sense).
Makes total sense Laurie! Thanks! I'm going to see what the center suggest, but I thought I'd ask here too!
I would ask the daycare ladies what they suggest.
