Pineapple core smoothie

Anybody done the pineapple core and have a recipe/ suggestion for a smoothie?

Should I just buy a pinapple core, split it in 5ths, and throw it in a blender with maybe some other fruit juice?

I'm already on 2dpo.  Is it still worth trying?

Re: Pineapple core smoothie

  • That would probably work just fine. I ate it by itself one month and was sooo grossed out by it. I haven't tried it since. I'm sure a smoothie would be so much better! (And I don't think you're too late!)

  • The only time I have actually done it was my BFP cycle. But I used banana, pineapple core, oranges, and pineapple orange juice. It was pretty good.

    Hmmm.  This sounds good!

Tuesday question...were you able to just buy the pineapple core?  Or did you have to core it yourself...??

(I have visions of me trying to core a pineapple that resemble and I Love Lucy episode...) Embarrassed

Lol! Yes, I bought a whole, fresh, pineapple and had to core it myself. They make a tool for it, but I don't have one. It's not too hard. :)

I cored it myself (even though I hear you can buy it at wholefoods).

I cut the pinapple in half and then cut the core with a sharp knife in a V so that it looks like a long triangle.  HTH!

  • I just take Bromelain supplements. I love pineapple but the core is gross, and cutting them is a PITA.

For smoothies though, I use frozen fruit, it's cheaper and makes amazing smoothies. Frozen blueberries and strawberries are really good.

  • Thank you Elizjane for the compliment!

itsmegin - Thanks for the frozen fruit tip!  That does sound really yummy.  I think I'll try that!

Oh boy.  Let's home my whole foods has pineapple core that you can buy.  I don't even know if the knives we have would be sharp enough to cut thru a pineapple!  Something tells me this is going to be an interesting evening...

  • I am doing it this month since we had a fresh pineapple in the house anyway.  I cut the core into 5th's and put one chunk of it in the blender with a few strawberries, a whole ripe banana, and some orange juice.  It is really good...however I have gotten a small chunk of just the core and it is GROSS.  It is stringy and tastes nothing like pineapple :)  I have been doing from 1-5 dpo (or will, 3 dpo today)
