We are also going through the agency v. attorney question. It does not seem to be easy to search out attorney's online in the New England area. Has anyone worked with one?

Are there any agencies in the New England area that you would recommend?

We live in Rhode Island.

HI.  Unfortunately I do not have any recommendations for Rhode Island.  I live in Maine and just wanted to share what I have been told about adoptions in New England. Our home study agency told us that there has been a rapid drop in placements in New England over the years.  Because of that, we had to use two different agencies - one for the home study (in Maine) and another for placement (they are based in CA and do adoptions throughout the country). If you do not have an agency in Rhode Island that does placements throughout the country, you may want to look into using two agencies.

that is helpful, thanks. we heard pretty much the same thing. Do the homestudy here and placement somewhere else. May I ask what agency in CA you are using?
