lexapro users?

How long before you started to notice a difference? I know it takes 2+ weeks for it to kick in completely, but did you feel any kind of relief earlier than that?

Also, what kinds of side effects did you experience and how long did it take for them to go away?

I started to feel a difference within a week of starting it.  My doc explained that there is a short term effect to helping and then a built up long term effect.

I did notice that I was a bit sleepy on it when I was taking it in the morning.  So, my doc recommended to start taking it at night and that has helped.  I also gained a bit of weight on it - like 5-10lbs.  I'm working on losing that weight with better management of my eating and exercise.

Good luck!  It really has made a HUGE difference in my life!

About a week into taking it. I didn't really experience any side effects other than sleepiness (but with a newborn, I don't know if it was the pill or just my new life as a mother!).

Lexapro really helped me - I hope it helps you too. GL!

nauseousness and sleepy. I'm on week 2 and it's subsiding.

I started to notice a difference within the first week, maybe sooner. I have been taking it for about 10-11 days. I am not 100% yet but definitely better! Didn't really notice any side effects either. Maybe just headaches but that could be the weird weather here too.

i've been taking lexapro for about a month now. it's hard to say when it started working. it's so gradual. but looking at me today from a month ago...huge difference. i haven't noticed many side effects. maybe a little drowsy. as another poster said, taking it at night helps. i was on celexa for about a month and gained about 7 lbs despite diet and exercise. started lexapro after that and lost it.
