My mom's best friend's daughter and her partner had a baby last fall. For them it came down to age. My mom's friend's daughter is 31 and her partner is 38. For basic fertility and risk issues, they decided it made sense for the younger partner to carry the baby.
Well... this happens to be a question I can answer based on experience. When my partner and I decided to have children, she was very clear that she did not want to carry.
