I'm watching that First Love: Second chance show and I just don't know what to think of it.  I think it's weird that these people would carry a flame for this long.  I just don't get it.

So, who was your first love and how old were you?

Mine was a neighbor I dated when I was in 7th grade and he was in 9th.  God I was crushed when we broke up.  He's now my step-brother's best friend (bizarre back story there) and I'm very glad how things turned out.

My 'first love' was when I was fourteen. We broke up when I was sixteen and I was beyond heartbroken.

I am now friends with the guy on FB and he is forever saying borderline rude/creepy things to me along the lines of 'why did I ever leave you'.

I still love my first love, just in a different way.  I dated him all throughout highschool, most of college...off and on, and for a little while after college.  Hes actually my best friend's brother.  Although, I dated him first and then decided to keep her as my bestie. 

Everytime I broke up with that boy I was devasted.  Growing up and changing together was really hard and both of us got our hearts broken.  I'm not sure I'm actualy capable of loving someone else that intensly.  I love my DH, but its different.   There were a million reasons it didn't work, but he'll always be my family and ALWAYS be my best friend's brother.

My first love wasn't until I was in college. I had dated before but never in love. He broke up with me after 6 months and I was crushed. His best friend called me to see how I was doing and we ended up casually dating for awhile. It was my way of getting back at my ex. Oh to be young again.

I was 16 and he was 20. It lasted for 3 years.He wanted to get married and I thought we were too young. I was heartbroken. We are on friendly terms now but it took a decade to get there. I think you always have a special place in your heart for your first love. A special place that you see with rose colored glasses.

BTW - whenever I talk to my first love I am sooooo thankful for my husband. My husband finds it funny that whenever I have any contact with my ex-boyfriend I am much more appreciative of him (husband).

Yes I dated before DH, but no one else was ever this special to me.

I was 16. He's gay now. Sooooo, pretty safe to say we wouldn't have ended up together in the long run

My first love was from grade 5 to grade 8 or so. We ?were good friends but didnt date, and boy did I love him!

My first love was from my sophmore year of high school. We dated for a few months and then were on/off through high school and into freshmen year of college.  So glad to be done with the crazy mind games.

 And would you believe he's now married to one of my best friends?!  The strangest part is, she dated one of his best friends for about 5 years. Oh what a tangled web...

My first love was this guy I met in college...We dated off and on for a while, and he was always telling me how we weren't a good fit. Our friends hated that we were together, and my dad FLIPPED when he found out about us.

4 years later, we had a baby together.

I can't agree more to both points!  I was 15, we dated for a year and a half.  I was devastated at the time!  I'm extremely thankful that didn't work out!

My first live started in 7 th grade. We dated in between other people up until I married DH... I even left my first husband to be with him again!! My ex was abusive and he came to the rescue like always... Probably would have married him if he hadn't gotten deployed for 18 months! He told me he wanted me to date and enjoy not being married to the scum of the earth and then when he got back we'd give it another go but in the meantime I met DH! He also met a woman in his troop and they are engaged and expecting their first! We still talk and we still end our conversations with I love you but it's a different kind of love now. And we are both happy with how our lives ended up!

I dated my first love for 7 years, starting in 7th grade.  We were together all through middle school, high school, and part of college.  One day, he stopped talking to me, wouldn't answer my calls, etc.  Found out he was gay!  My sister used to question him and demand to know if he was gay; I always defended him.  I can't believe I dated him so long - what a waste!  I guess love is blind.  I'm so blessed to have my DH - not only is he so kind and doting, he is totally ungay!
