Milk Protein Allergy

DD is being tested for this.  Took in a stool smaple this morning but they said it could take 3 days for results!  What??  That seems crazy to me.  Especially when you have a non stop fussy baby!

Re: Milk Protein Allergy

  • DS#1 had this and we switched him to a soy based formula and he was sooo much betterafter that!! I know waiting on the test is frustratingbt on tthe bright side if this is what it is once you get the hang of what you can and can't give you will have a completely different child!!!

I am surprised it is taking so long for the stool sample - we have always had those results before we even left the office. It is the blood test that actually tells if they have a true allergy (the RAST) that we have had to wait 3 days for.

And as far as switching to soy, a significant number of babies who have a true MPI will also have a soy intolerance one as well. Most pedi's will have you go directly to Alimentum or Nutramagin if this is the case.

    Good luck.

How long did it take for your kids to get to normal on the new formula? My LO has now been on alimentum for 1-1/2 weeks and still is very fussy but the dia has stopped so that she is going only 1 to 2x per day.
