I use huggies natural wipes and diapers but dd still got some diaper rash. Her bottom wasn't even red, but at her 2 week appt, the nurse pointed it out. Check for little red dots, even there isn't much redness oherwise. Dr. then prescribed diaper rash cream. So, yes, ok to use at that early of an age. Also, most creams are for both prevention as well as treatment. I'd use it even if you aren't 100% that it is diaper rash yet.

I believe Desitin is safe to use that early. I had to use A&D ointment with DD when she was just a few days old. I've been using the Target brand sensitive wipes and love them.
At our first apt our dr said that A&D would be for prevention, but Destin would be for treatment, both are okay to use that early. We have been using wet paper towels because DS had a reaction to the wipes.
My doctor recommended using Vaseline instead of Desitin. We've been using it before we go to bed at night to protect her skin from moisture while she sleeps 3-4 hours, and her bottom is a happy bottom!

Re: baby wipes/diaper rash cream
Mommy's little helper
Congrats on your LO!
They used Desitin on DS in the hospital because he got a diaper rash. My guess is if the pedi oks it it must be fine!
