Teething sux!

I just found another tooth that has broken through - Hunter now has 7 teeth! 4 on the bottom (2 of which just broke through last week) and 3 on the the top (the third I just saw today).  My poor baby - and I have tiny bruises on my arms on spots where he "pinches" me with those sharp little teeth!

Is there some point during the first year when teething stops for a while?

  • Oh, poor baby!  He must feel so uncomfortable!  Hope they come in quickly and painlessly

  • Omg he has so many teeth!!!! Abraham has 2 on the bottom and 2 are cutting through on the top. So he got his first 2 when he was about 6 months and now 2 are cutting through and he's 11 months.

  • Every kid's teething pattern is different.  Nicky didn't get his first tooth until he was almost 11 months old.  After that they would come in clusters of 5 or 6 at a time but with big breaks inbetween.  He is just getting his 2nd year molars now at almost 3 years old. Teething has been a very long drawn out journey for us.  Hopefully your baby will be done a lot sooner.
  • for us, Abby started at 6 months and didn't stop until this week (17 months) when her final 2 canines popped up.  Now we're just waiting on the 2 year molars and we're done... until sarah starts.  uugghh..

  • Like Andrea said, all kids are different. Gaby didn't show any signs of teething until about 13 months. For us it was very scary, when we went for her year check-up her pedi told us that if by 15 month she didn't show any sign of teething, they were going to slice her gums. I was beyond super scared, since I had never heard of this before. Luckily for us her teeth finally decided to make their appearance before her appointment. Same thing for Alex, at 13 months his two bottom teeth broke out and now his two top are coming out. Best of luck, this stage sucks but just find ways to sooth him. We found that anything cold helps Alex, while with Gaby a vibrating teething toy did the trick.

OMG I would have been terrified - never heard of this!

Thanks guys...for the most part the teething tablets work, but not always and the past few days he's been waking up in the middle of the night crying so I know he's in more pain now than with the first 2 teeth.  Good thing I'm still nursing cause when he wakes up all I have to do usually is nurse him for a few minutes and he falls back asleep...
