U/S for baby's gender

My doctor doesn't check for gender until 24-26 weeks, but I've heard you can check alot sooner than that... I have my 16 week appointment this Friday and I want to ask my doctor to check for the gender, and then confirm at my next appointment. I've read online that it's only about 70% accurate at 16 weeks, has anyone had a correct gender sighting this early? I know it also has to do with the baby cooperating and opening it's legs, but I need some words of advice to convince my doctor to check...

My first guess was at 16 weeks, and it was correct.

I was friendly with my doctor (perintologist) and the u/s tech since I had a million u/s during my pregnancy so I just asked them to check.

I actually had the same guess based on the between-the-legs shot they got at 12 weeks, but they didn't want to officially guess that early.

We had an elective 4D u/s at 17w4d to do a gender check - it was correct. The day before was our "big" ultrasound and the tech was not able to get a good shot in the 40 minutes we were there.

We had ours done at 18 weeks and have had it confirmed 2 times after. I believe they can tell at 16 weeks.

Ultrasound Me (www.ultrasoundme.com) in Costa Mesa will do gender determination at 13 weeks for $25!  I did it at 14 weeks for both my daughter and this pregnancies and both were confirmed CORRECT later by the doctor.  I also have a lot of friends that had the same results!

The Dr. wasn't able to tell at this last appointment, but we will check again at 20 weeks on May 7th. I was able to listen to the heartbeat and it was 130bpm
