XP : MI Moms

Anyone in the A2 area? We moved here from Seattle at the end of August. Once we got ds settled into school and sports, I became pregnant and spent the whole winter on the couch or hugging the toilet. I am *finally* feeling better and am ready to get out of this house and find some playgroups, etc for dd (and start making some friends for myself!).

Re: XP : MI Moms

  • A2 is great -- we're over there often for the children's museum.  But we're about an hour away near Detroit.

  • We live about 30 minutes away from there.

  • I'm so jealous; I'm from A2 and would LOVE to move back!
    Some random thoughts:
    Have you tried meetup.com?
Also, search yelp.com and put "moms" and your zip in the search bar - see what pops up.

I do know that there's a great store in Saline (off Michigan Ave) called Urban Toddler that has classes, drop-ins, workshops, etc. where you might meet some people.

My brother's family has a family membership to the YMCA in downtown A2 off Main St.  It's super nice and the pool is fantastic.  When it gets warmer, I'll be you can meet quite a few people at the public pools; the one nearest to Vet's park is supposed to be great as well.

    Good luck Smile

  • I saw this poster over on 12-24 and sent her over here.  I think she mentioned that she was actually near Whitmore Lake or thinking of moving there, which actually puts her not too far from Butterbeans or Yodajo (I think).  I know there's a couple more Brighton-ish Nesties--anyone want to do a get together in the next few weeks in Ann Arbor?  Domino's Farms?

Also--Dande--I could have sworn you lived in Ann Arbor.  Why did I think that?

  • I second the children's museum, my sis used to work there, it's awesome.  Natural History museum is good, too. (church st if I remember right)

Buhr Park has a nice pool area/rec area

The Y has a good pool & stuff, I second that, the AA library is across the street (and so is Jerusalem Garden, yummmmmy food).  There's a small water park at Jackson Road & Stadium I think???

It's been a while, I grew up there and then went back and went to Eastern, but I live on the other side of the state now.

Probably because I'm over there a lot!  Zingermanns has a gf menu and we have a membership to the hands on museum!  :)

  • I'm in A2.  We love going to Jungle Java, and am anxiously waiting to go to the Hands on Museum.  There are parks galore here too.

Great to know that there are more moms in the area.

I am in Whitmore Lake/Hamburg area right now. Dexter schools though. We do have a membership to the Y and as soon as dd gets over this dumb cold that dh gave her we will be starting swim lessons. I did take a Yoga class there last fall that I loved, now that I am feeling better I might try to get back.

I just joined an A2 meetup group, so we will see how that goes! Thanks everyone (and I am all for a GTG)!
