Babies: 0 - 3 Months

do you and DH eat together?

I was talking to a friend with a 5 month old (both of our hubbies cook) and she was saying they don't have evening meals together anymore. We've been able to time it well so far and eat with DD entertained in the swing but I'm not sure if it'll last. What do you do?

Re: do you and DH eat together?

  • DH is a teacher who gets home around 330, and we've worked her nap schedule so she sees him for a few minutes and then goes down for a nap at about 4, 430.  She sleeps long enough for me to cook and for us to eat together, and she wakes up around 630 for her own meal.

  • We usually try to.  Sometimes he will be working really late & then I'll eat whenever I get the chance.

  • We feed Simon first, then put him in his bouncy chair and eat. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • We try to ,but it usually only works out if hubby has a day off. If it's a work day then I eat before he gets home and fix him dinner then take a nap while he eats.

  • Yes, every night. We just try to time dinner around DS's schedule.

  • DS is usually usually asleep when it's dinner time.  If he's not asleep he's at least quiet in his swing.
  • I feed DS before I start dinner and he's usually good for a couple hours.  We put him in his bouncy seat on the table while we eat.  If he's fussy one of us will hold him while the other eats, but we still stay in the dining room together.
  • I swear my son KNOWS when we're about to eat. Even if he's sitting calmly up until that point, as soon as we sit down to eat, he starts screaming. We just laugh about it, decide who's less hungry, and take turns eating. Someday we'll be able to eat together again, but as of right now, it's a rare luxury in our lives.
  • Um, sometimes depending on when we have our dinner ready.
