TTC after 35

Update to my update - RE Appt

So I had my first RE appt since it was confirmed I miscarried and just thought I'd update.

I have only been spotting (brown) since a week ago Monday so I've been very frustrated/worried that it might be ectopic, also my betas went from 166 on Wednesday to 168 on Friday. Hmm   The Dr said that it was not ectopic (THANK GOD) and I will not have to a D&C. I do have some tissue in my uterus still but he thinks I should be able to pass it on my own. He gave me a Rx for a drug (starts with an M, I've seen it mentioned before) which will get my cervix contracting to help push things out. However, at this point, he doesn't think I'll need it and that in the next couple of days I should have heavier bleeding. If by Saturday nothing has changed, I will take it.

Since this is my 2nd loss he is having my husband and I go for karotyping to rule anything out. So we'll get that done soon.

He's very optimistic that I will get pregnant again since I got pregnant easily and will not be changing my protocol (150iu gonal-f w/ovidrel trigger) because I responded so well to it.  I was on clomid for several rounds and did not respond well after my 1st miscarriage so I asked if that would happen with gonal-f.  He said no, I will respond similarly well as I did this cycle. He said clomid does not always work well in older women.  (when did we get old...I still feel like I"m 25).

While this sucks big time, I'm feeling better knowing that I'm not still in limbo. Hopefully things will start moving along soon and I will start a new cycle in a timely manner.  I'll be 38 on the 14th (ACK!!!), times a wasting!! time

You ladies are really great and I appreciate all the well wishes.  Congratulations on everyone's BFP's H&H 9 months to you all!! Smile

Hopefully those of us still waiting will get ours this year (it's about damn time)!

Re: Update to my update - RE Appt

  • Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm glad the RE feels hopeful and that you are making a plan.  It sounds like you are in good hands.

I am with you in that I'm hoping to hop on the BFP train soon!

     Best of luck with everything!

  • I am so sorry for your loss!  I am very glad it wasn't ectopic, but I know that doesn't ease the pain of loss.  I will be thinking of you as you move forward.  It sounds like your RE is committed to helping you find success.
  • So sorry for your loss...but very glad it wasn't ectopic (I've had one - ouch!).  Sounds like your RE is definitely one to keep!  GL to you!!

  • I'm sorry for you loss.  Did your doctor say how soon you can try again?
  • A plan is a beautiful thing.

Sorry, again, for your loss. I hope your big, fat, sticky positive (BFSP) is here soon!

I know what you mean - I still feel like I'm 25, too. Except when my RE or one of his nurses decides to remind me otherwise...

  • I'm so sorry for your loss!  But glad your RE is on the ball.  FWIW, I just had a second RE confirm that he doesn't believe in Clomid for women over 35.

  • I love that your RE is optimistic about you getting pregnant again soon. It always helps when your doctor tells you that it still is possible and that he thinks it will happen for you. Hope you're coping as well as you can with your loss.

I have to wait for one real cycle then we can start over again. So hopefully by June I will be good to go. Yes

  • So sorry for your loss {{hugs}}
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...
