I know this is probably a hard question to answer since it's based on a lot of assumptions.......but........
As most of you can imagine I received an ABSURD amount of baby clothes for my shower. Unfortunately, none of them came with gift receipts. The other unfortunate thing is that most people didn't think it through, and I got tons of sundresses in 3-6 and 6-9 month size (that will be fall/winter).
Anyway, the majority of the clothing I received was newborn size and 0-3 months. Most of my girlfriends say their babies were in newborn size for only a couple of weeks, but from what I'm assuming, that will be different for me since twins are born smaller.
70% of the clothing is sun dresses. I'm not sure how many dresses I should keep and how many I should attempt to return. Since I don't have gift receipts, it's not likely I'll get much money back on most of the dresses. Also with some I have no idea what store they came from. I had planned on the girls living in PJs for the first couple of months of their life, but I hardly received those! I guess they'll just be fashionable.
If I assume the girls are born at 37 weeks, which is May 25, and I assume they'll be 6 lbs each - what would you suggest? I have no idea about how much babies gain week by week or month by month.
Again, I know this is hard since it's based on so many assumptions. Any help is appreciated. I guess I'm wondering what a reasonable expectation is for their weight by end of August.
Hope this makes sense.
Re: Baby Growth - Clothing and Weights Question
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
My boys were born at 37w6d weighing 6lbs10oz and 6lbs7oz. They each lost 7 oz in the hospital; when we got them dressed to go home we found they were swimming in their NB clothes! They wore a mix of Preemie and Nb the first 3-4 weeks, then stayed in NB till about 6w and moved into 0-3m. From that point on they've always pretty much followed the age guidelines for each size of clothes moving to 3-6m clothes right when they turned 3m, then into 6-9m around when they turned 6m, etc. Will has always been very average for height and Alex is a little tall for his age. They were super chunky from 2-4m but they (especially Will) have slimmed down a lot since then.
That's such a shame when people don't think through the season/age thing when buying clothes.
one of my best friends bought the boys these really cute fleece jackets but they were size 6-9m, my boys were born in January, and we live in sweltering SC! I was sad they could never wear the gifts from her. (And she lives in Taiwan so I couldn't exactly exchange them.
)
I would think the 3-6m summery stuff would be fine but would try to exchange summery 6-9m stuff.
Ok thanks ladies. I am in no way ungrateful....I was overhwelmed by everyone's generosity. And I "get" that it's much more fun to buy matching sundresses for ID twins than it is to buy mattress pads. But I feel terrible that people spent SOO much money on clothes I will never use!
I'm not joking that I stopped counting at 40 sundresses. 40. Four, Zero.
It's good to know that more or less they will fit into the month guidelines that the clothes follow.
Damn. 40 dresses?!
I think I got 3 outfits for each baby total. That's it. Thank God.

If I figure out how to PIP I will take a picture of the STACKS that are lined in up in my den!!!!
My sister had 3 baby girl showers and it turned out she had a boy. She didn't have any receipts for anything. My mom and I took everything to BRU and we told her what happened and that we didn't know if the clothes came from their or not. The girl behind the counter was so nice, she told us if it was a brand that they carried and if it wasn't where she thought it came from.
My suggestion is if you want to exchange them to do it now before they mark down the sun dresses, keep your favs and just take them to BRU (if that is by you) and ask if this is their brand. then get stuff you need, like changing pad covers!
This is EXACTLY what I plan to do. I'm going tomorrow. My girlfriend helped me identify which clothes seemed to be from Target and which seemed to be from BRU. I was also concerend about the markdowns! Oh well!
