Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When will a sleep pattern begin to emerge?

My DS is 1 month old and his sleep is still fairly unpredictable--though he generally takes a morning nap anywhere from 9:30-11 and and afternoon nap sometimes as early as three, other times as late as 6. Overnight he wakes up at least once, anywhere from 3:30 to 4:30.

Just wondering, when did your babies begin to regulate their sleep schedules a little more? Is it after the 6 week mark? Thank you!

  • His daytime sleep is still kinda all over the place but at 5-6 weeks his nighttime sleep seemed to take shape.

  • Once you start organizing one for your LO. I follow Babywise and my DS was semi-predictable at around 6-7 weeks of age...I think! I forget so quickly.

  • My LO's sleep schedule started to solidify right around 6 weeks, especially the nighttime sleep schedule. During the day, she will take naps, just not always at the exact same time or for the exact same length. But, at night she is sleeping from 8 or 9 pm (when we get her to bed) all the way through to about 6.

  • DD started to develop a sleep pattern on her own around 6 weeks. She now take a mid-morning nap around 10am, an afternoon nap around 2 or 3, and then goes to sleep for the night around 8 pm.
  • My LO just turned 6 weeks on Monday. Its nice to hear that there is some hope on the horizion, cause i was begining to think I will be up every three hours forever!
  • We are still struggling with a day time routine.  DD isn't a great napper, unless I am holding her or she is moving (car or swing).  Our nights are great though.  She has been consistently STTN since about 6 weeks.
