GD- testing timing???

So I've been struggling with my breakfast numbers for weeks now.  They've been acceptable, but just.  Since my diagnosis was early I'm of course worried that once I'm fully in the 24-28 week zone that my hormones will spike and I'll have a whole new set of issues!

Anyhow I had a 4 day weekend and think that I may have come across something.

Usually during the work week I take fasting between 7:30 and 8:30 am.  Then I eat and test breakfast between 9am and 10am.  Fasting is good (now that I'm on Glyburide) but breakfast is high, no matter what I eat!

This weekend, I was testing at all different times.  Fasting all of a sudden wasn't great, but breakfast was!?!  Well I looked at the timing, and my fasting was being taken between 9am and 11am- which is usually when I take breakfast.

So it occurs to me- maybe I just have a spike in blood sugar between 9am and 11am every day- regardless of food consumption!

Today I took fasting at 8am- good.  Breakfast at 11:30 (I went back to bed and went to work late).  Also good!

Anyone else see anything like this?  I know it is ridiculous, but I feel like if I play the "game" right, I'll win!  So I need to test fasting early, and breakfast late.  Or maybe both early (if I can get my butt out of bed!)...

Just curious if I'm grasping at straws here...

Re: GD- testing timing???

  • I think you're on to something.  My bad number is lunch. On the weekends I always eat it later because we get up later, I snack later etc.  If I eat lunch around noon and test at 1 I'll have a bad number. But if I eat at 1 and test at 2 it's good.  I think my spike is 11 am ish - 1pm.  I'm trying to alter my weekday schedule to fit
