Where to buy wide shoes besides Stride Rite?

DS needs wide shoes and I wasn't sure where to look besides Stride Rite.  Any suggestions?

  • We go to Olly and they do a foot scan and they told us we could do Adidas wide toe, New Balance or the nice shoes that begin w/ the letter T.  Timbuktu or something . . . also famous footwear sells Wide and if you become a member (free) you can get free shipping to your house on-line or from the store if they don't have your size.

  • My daughter has a wide foot and I've found wide shoes at payless...THey don't always have much of a selection...but you might wanna try.

  • We've had very good luck with New Balance for sneakers.  DS wears a wide or extra-wide, and we've gone from one pair of New Balances after another for like a year and a half now.  It's tough to find wide shoes.
  • Kohl's has nike's in wide.

  • I haven't tried them, but squeaky shoes seem to be wide. www.mamabargains.com had some toddler styles left to day at $13!
  • See Kai Run has very wide toe boxes. My son wears an XW at stride rite and SKR still fit him better.

  • I too have been buying at stride rite for over a year but I just had a mom say to look on ebay for new wide shoe. I haven't tried it yet.
  • nordstrom has a kids shoe dept. some of the shoes are not labeled as wide, but will fit accordingly.

also crocs fit wide feet pretty well, and some Target shoes fit wide feet (hit or miss, just try them on)

I second this! DD was a double extra wide at Stride Rite, but See Kai Run shoes fit her perfectly! They're obviously very comfortable too because she requests to wear them every day (now that's all I buy, but we used to have choices and she refused the others most days).

  • I will agree that my XW kid can wear See Kai Run. However, the one pair that we had started to come apart very quickly from too much playing, dragging his toes outside, etc. Stride Rite are way sturdier, in my opinion.
  • My daughter also has wide feet and a high instep. We have bought her New Balance and Keen shoes. Keens fit wide in general and New Balance come in different widths.

    Hope that helps.
