I'm in the same boat. Everyone recommended Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day (non-bread machine book though) but I didn't want to pay $27.99 for it so I'm waiting until I have some B&N coupons.
I don't like the shape of the pan in my machine so I just use the dough cycle and then bake. If I want a standard loaf, I bake it in a loaf pan. If I want artisan-type bread or rolls or whatever I shape it and then put it on the cookie sheet as usual. I like to look for bread recipes on www.recipezaar.com

I do have a KitchenAid. I've never tried making dough in it! I think I might have to try it out today.
