Preemies

My 29 weekers vs my sisters 38 weekers

So I had my boy girl twins at 29 weeks.  Olivia was 2lbs 14oz and Benjamin was 2lbs 8oz.  My sister had her boy/boy twins exactly one month after mine and they were 5lbs 13oz and 5lbs 14oz.  This is the first picture of them all together.  In the picture Max (my sisters son) first left to right, then its Olivia my baby girl then its Rex my sisters other son and then its Benjamin my son.  Its insane to me how much they have grown and by this picture I have a feeling they are going to be catching up a little sooner than the age of two.  What do ya'll think?  And does anyone have babies close in age to their preeemies that will be compared to while growing up weather you hate it or not?

Re: My 29 weekers vs my sisters 38 weekers

  • My boys were born 7 weeks early and stayed 2 weeks in the NICU. They weighed 4 lb 12oz and 4lbs and 14oz (if I remember correctly) My SIL had her son exactly 1 month later. Her son was 8+ lbs. The kids are constatnly being compared. But it just so happens that they haven't just caught up but are in the 90th percentile. My guys are huge even compared to her son that was bron double their size. At 8 months they are wearing 12-18 month clothing, it's crazy!

Confession: it makes me feel good that they grew so well. I was so sick of hearing the comparrison in size between my boys and her kid.

  • What a great picture! How fun to have a sister with twins the same age as yours. It does look like your kiddos are catching up quite well. If you jsut showed me the picture I wouldn't have guessed there were 29 weekers and 38 weekers in there!

  • DH's cousin had a FT baby 2 days after Cooper was born. My SIL also had a FT baby 6 weeks before Cooper was born. It's interesting to see the differences and similarities. Cooper is definatley advanced for his adjusted age, but there are some things that he isn't caught up with yet.

Try not to compare, and just enjoy having other babies to play with!
