Postpartum Depression

zoloft for ppd?

My doctor prescribed this for me today. I'm not a "medicine" person, so I'm nervous about taking it. Especially when they mentioned that my symptoms *could* get worse, we'd just have to wait and see how my body reacted to it.

Has anyone had any experience with this drug? Has it helped or hurt?

  • My doctor put me on lexapro and it seems to be kicking in already. I just started it last Sunday. I took zoloft back in college and it definitely helped me. I never remember my symptoms getting worse before getting better. I can't remember how long it took to kick in though. I would start it for sure! It will help you!

  • My son just turned a month old. When he was a week old my doctor put me on 25 mg of zoloft. So far it has worked great and my symptoms have not gotten any worse. Just remember you will have your up and down days but that has to do with your hormones. Good Luck!!!
  • Zoloft was great for me got rid of the PPD and PPA. Much better than other drugs I was on and very few side effects for me.
  • I took 50 mg daily for 1 week then 100 mg for the 2nd week and my PPD got worse but it HAS helped many others...Good luck and talk to your doctor if you do feel worse but at least give Zoloft a chance if your doctor has prescribed it.
