i voted special snowflake...i believe i could be swayed on this name. a girl i worked with who i HATE..her husbands name was Robert and she called him Bobby...i hated it every time she said it.

I voted SS as well. One of our best friends is named Robert. I ALWAYS call him Robert, but DH calls him Rob. So if we had a Robert it would probably be the same way.

I have a cousin named Robert. As a kid, he was called Bobby. Now that he's older he goes by Bob. So I like Bobby for a kid.

But I also briefly dated a guy in my early 20's named Robbie. He was a cutie pie. So I also like Robbie.

Both my dad and brother are Robert. My dad has always gone by Bob. Well, except for my grandma called him Gene his whole life which is his middle name. My brother was Robbie till about 5th grade and then he wanted to be called Rob and in college he went back to Robbie. Guess I am saying it is rather versitile and can be changed up as the boy grows up.

DH is a Robert who goes by Rob, but as a kid he went by Robbie. His dad was Robert, as well, but everyone called him Wally (yeah, I don't get it either).

Robbie for when he is a kid, Rob when he gets older. DH's name is Robert and Jeremy was thisclose to becoming Robert Jr. I'm glad he didn't though, because DH and I fought over which nickname to use. He HATES Robbie, I hate Bobby or Bob. DH's family all calls him Bob, everyone else, including me, calls him Rob because I just loathe "Bob".

I voted 'this name sucks' ... lol. Only because I dated 2 guys named Robert. They were both jerks. However, they both went by 'Robert' and nothing else.

I like the name Robert! I voted for Rob, but I also like Bobby for a little kid. And by the time he gets older, he can really go by what he wants. My brother is a Robert, and he went by Bobby as a kid, then around middle school decided he was Robert, and by high school decided he was ok with Bob. Everyone was pretty good about going with the flow and calling him what he wanted (well, except my mom, who still occasionally slips and calls him Bobby. I'm guessing it's a mom thing).
