What do you pay for in-home daycare?

A family member is going to watch our peanut 3 days a week when I return to work part-time.  I want to pay her, but I'm not sure what's reasonable.  I know I'd pay about $50 to send her to a daycare center.  Is in-home usually less?

Re: What do you pay for in-home daycare?

  • In-home is generally less, yes.  I run a licensed daycare in the Hoffman/Schaumburg Area, and I charge $40/day for infants and $35/day for kids over one.

  • I was able to find in home from $46-53 a day, i think i contacted about 7 places.

  • My mom is a licensed home day care provider and charges $135 per week.  Of course that is not what I pay ;).

  • I'm pretty sure that it really depends on the person. We pay $35/day and couldn't be happier with the price and the lady that takes care of her.
  • We love our licensed, in home provider and she watches 4 other children besides our DD. We pay her $46 per day, regardless of the age of the child. We live on the north side of the city.

Will baby #3 be another girl?
