Maybe a dumb question...

DS has to have an ultrasound of his testicle tomorrow.  (There's a lump that's gone from the size of a small pea to a large marble.)  I can't nurse him for several hours leading up to the test because he will be sedated but I can give him clear liquids (pedialyte/juice).  He's EBF and I guess my question is are there any restrictions to giving him that stuff?  Will it fill his belly up so he's not screaming from hunger?  Thoughts? Suggestions?

  • Oh poor guy!

Normally at that age I think you would not want to give anything other than BM, but in those circumstances I wouldn't see any harm in giving as much as he'll take.  As you say, at least it will hopefully sort of satisfy him.

I'll send t&p that everything comes back ok from the tests.

  • I know water can be an issue up to a certain point - you may want to call your pedi to check.  I get a little nervous with that type of thing.

  • T&P that all goes well tomorrow.  No idea on the solution though.
  • Thanks, guys!
