sharing a room

If you plan on having them share a room when did you/do you plan on moving baby in the room?

Re: sharing a room

  • DD was a month old when we moved her out of our room -- her room is basically connected to ours. I'm thinking we'll keep LO in our room longer though, so that they don't wake each other up, etc. I'm just going to play it by ear and see how things go.

  • I plan on #2 staying in the co-sleeper in our room until 2.5-3 months.  We did the same with #1.

  • We had DD in our room for 14months (in her own crib) due to a small apartment at the time so we're not opposed to keeping the new baby with us for awhile. My guess is we'll wait until he STTN. I ended up doing Ferber with DD at 7.5mos to reach that goal so I'll see if DS does it on his own first (probably up to about 6-7mos) and then use Ferber on him as well if I need to. Then they can share :)

  • Kaydence sleeps in pac-n-play in the loft off our bedroom but she will be joing Cecelia on April 11th (she will be 4 months old on the 7th) and will be starting daycare on the 12th-----this way it won't matter who wakes who up in the morning because they will both be going to daycare together.  That is the only reason we haven't moved her yet...she has been STTN since 6 weeks old but gets up earlier then Cece does.

We moved them in when DS2 was 5-6 weeks old. DS1 goes to bed first and falls asleep. Then we get DS2 ready for bed and put him in his crib when he's drowsy. He'll wake up about twice a night. After the first time he's up to eat I put him back in the crib. After the second time I put DS2 in the pnp in our room. At that point DS1 is in a lighter sleep cycle and could wake up with DS2 is fussy in the early hours. Otherwise, neither one wakes the other.

They don't sleep together in there for nap times yet.

  • I planned on 3 months but the baby was not sleeping well at all at that time. Then I planned for when she started STTN. Then a 7 months with no hope in site of her STTN I just did it. It's been going really well. I just can't let the baby fuss her way back to sleep like I could before. I could have done it earlier now that I look back. I just really thought she would have started STTN.
