storage ottoman question

I was planning on picking one (or two) up for the living room...so I could stash stuff that I like to have downstairs but don't want DD all over.

Does LO get them open easy-peasy?  DH thinks she will and that it will just be another thing for her to open and dump.  He said if we got a hinged one (instead of one where the top comes all the way off) we could put a magnetic latch (like tot lock) inside.  WDYT?

    We really tried to not open ours (hinged) in front of DS, so he wouldn't know stuff was in it. He probably could open it now, if he really wanted to. When he has tried, I distract him with something else, or I turn it so he doesn't know which side opens.

    Now that I have said this, he will likely figure it out today and I will find the remotes scattered and my cooking magazines torn to shreds!

    We have a hinged one. Bennett hasn't really ever tried to open it, but we definitely can't just leave it open for him to pick toys out of. He immediately wants to play the shut and open back up game :)
