I'm going to start classes in mid May for The Bradley Method type of birth. Anyone else choosing this type of birth plan? If so... what are your thoughts and feelings about it compared to other forms of birth?
we went thru bradley childbirth classes, and they were a great fit for us! we had a wonderful instructor (linda worzer, natural beginnings) and learned a lot. for us, it was about getting the resources we needed to go med-free, but the series definitely covers more than just that. there is NO denying that it is long, long, long.
i haven't had any other kinds of births, so i can't really compare. i've heard great things about the childbirth classes offered at baylor too. it just kind of depends on what you want for yourself and your SO. does that help at all?
We went throught the Bradley method and really loved the classes. We used Stacy Hutchins through the Birthing Center in Allen. She is fantastic!! I liked that we learned about nutrition and relaxation, and I loved how involved it allowed my DH to be (he wanted to be as involved as he could, so it was a really good fit). Congrats!!
We also used Stacy Hutchins for our classes and both my DH and I loved the classes. You learn much more than just how to go med-free. You really learn the details about the birthing process, which I think is a must for a first time mom. Unless you find other birthing classes that will go beyond the "hospital process" and teach you more about what is going on with your body and how to cope with each stage, I think Bradley is your best bet.

I am going to be using Stacy Hutchins at the Allen Birthin Centere as well!!! So interesting that you both suggested her. From what I've read about her and from what I've talked to her about, she seems really great. Our classes start in mid May, so we are really looking forward to it. My SO is on board and very supportive, so were really looking forward to it. However, I do find some of the Bradley Method things a bit cooky, but for the most part, I really love what I've read in the book so far, and am very excited to start it!
We didn't take any sort of birthing method classes and I went med-free. Honestly, I had an amazing L & D nurse coaching me the whole time I was in the "pushing phase" of delivery. We wont be doing classes this time either.
Another graduate of Linda Worzer's Bradley classes here, and DH and I both really enjoyed the experience - both the classes and the resulting birth experience. GL!
