Making Babies First Meats

Question on cooking his first chicken and beef... I assume I should be trying to keep the fat content as low as possible? When you cooked your babies' first chicken etc did you buy lean meat and make sure to drain all of the fat? I know babies don't need to keep the calories down but I would think the fat might be hard on his digestive tract.

  • i steamed some salmon for her first meat and then gave her little flakes. but she also tried brisket as one of her first meats. the fat content of the brisket made it melt in her mouth, so i didnt worry about choking on pieces of meat.

  • We always buy lean meat anyway, but I did not really worry about the fat content beyond that. We just did small, tender pieces of chicken and turkey at first. The twins haven't had beef yet and Rhett didn't for a while either, mainly just because we don't eat it that often.

  • Salmon is a good idea.  We've got to get moving on the meats because baby's iron is low. Sad
