So, I am 22 weeks wtih b/g twins. I was put on pelvic rest 2 weeks ago and home bedrest a week ago for unexplained bleeding (it's been pretty minimal since I've been doing bedrest though!!)
Here's my question/statement about Pelvic Rest:
I orgasm in my sleep. I always have...it's not just a pregnancy thing. When I've been 'without' for about 2-3 weeks, my body decides it's going to 'take care of itself' and I literally orgasm in my sleep. I don't do anything to provoke it or encourage it....many times, I am not even dreaming about something sexual when it happens! So, it really seems like a reflex/muscular response my body does. (Maybe to relieve stress? tension? responding to hormone levels? I really don't know..)
This was kind of a concern of mine when we got pregnant because we did IVF and I had this happen to me right after we implanted the embryos. Luckily, no bad results happened (the eggs stuck).
I didn't think much of it the last few months because things have been normal with my pregnancy. But, now that I've been on Pelvic Rest, I am wondering if this is bad thing. I don't really know how to stop it, except just not have a dry-spell...but that's not possible right now (and I am fine with that!).
So, I guess I am curious...has anyone else ever experienced this (orgasm during sleep)? Also, I will mention it to my doctor at my next appointment, but do you think this is a major cause for concern since I am on Pelvic Rest?
Re: TMI question about Pelvic Rest...
I have this too...and it has not affected my cervix- so I guess I wouldn't be too concerned about it- especially if you're not having the bleeding as much.
I used to wake up mid-O and try to fight it! lol
As a PP said I think its the penetration they worry about..I was put on pelvic rest as well due to a short cervix and some fluid stuck in there.. They checked my membrane and it was in tact..I did read somewhere though that a hormone is released during orgasm that can trigger labor as well but honestly I have had a couple O's since pelvic rest before they checked my membrane and everything was good..(Also I doubt if I hadnt switched dr's they wouldnt have noticed the cervix problem)
I just dont think they want the penetration to rupture something and put you in PTL..
