I'm wondering if there's a link between low progesterone and getting AF at 8dp5dt? I'm wondering this b/c of the number of posters I've seen who don't get AF until after stopping the progesterone after a BFN. I've consulted Dr. Google and there are a variety of opinions. My RE's office uses progesterone suppositories/gel exclusively--no PIO. I know they're supposed to be comparable, but there's a part of me that thinks the PIO would be more effective. I have to wonder if my progesterone was too low and that contributed to the BFN. Or is low progesterone only a concern for post-BFP? I know I may be grasping at straws, but I'd love thoughts on this. TIA.
Re: XP: Link between progesterone and AF before beta?
I think the blame lies in what did or didn't happen to create that p4 level. I've always had weak/poor ovulation, but taken prometrium (vaginally) to hold off AF. that works, but it still doesn't matter if you don't fix the ovulation in the first place. Kinda a chicken/egg first thing. Sure, I'm not spotting or getting AF on 10dpo like I used to... but it's really just a mask for what didn't happen to naturally/scientifically create a higher level.
your low p4 didn't make the BFN. Rather, You didn't get a BFP and that created the low p4 (well, didn't elevate it)
KWIM?
Sorry about the BFN. I really am.
sorry about the BFN. My RE suggest PIO as the gold standard, that is what he calls it, but my friend took the gel instead of the shots. She was fine. I think there is some truth to what davezwife says...I don't quite understand progesterone issues, but I think some ppl have them but I think a healthy pregnancy/baby inside will usually kickstart its own progesterone to good levels. It helps to have the progesterone stuff on ivf/iui cycles, if you body isn't making it, but it should only help, not be the end all be all.
I might do acupuncture for progesterone issues...
Oh, when my friend did the gel, he told her he thinks PIO should be the first choice and if the person chooses not to then they can use the gel...but he would say it is 50 for pio and 40 for the gel. I am making up those numbers, but what I mean is they are almost comparable. if you think it will help, definitely ask your RE for PIO.
