TTC After a Loss

Help me with BCP's please!! Please!!!!

I am dying ladies.  Seriously.  My RE started me on Yasmin to prepare for IVF and I have been on it a week and feel like I am going to die.  I have been throwing up for 3 days straight and can't keep anything down.  They want to switch me to "lowestrin".... I've never heard of it and am probably spelling wrong.  I haven't been on BCP's since I was like... young.  Is it this bad for everyone?  What can I do?

  • I stared Yaz at 16 and it made me feel just awful!!  I had really good luck with ortho tricyclen low and the generic trinessa.

  • I was never able to take BCP for long periods of time because it made me crazy and moody, and believe me I've tried every kind.  I have taken Loestrin and I think it's probably better than Yasmin.  I would try Loestrin if I were you.

  • That sounds insane, and not right at all. I have always been on Ortho Lo, and had minimal issues (other than the spotting this time around).

I think if they are recommending something else you should go for it, you shouldn't be going through this.

I am really sorry Kelin, that blows.

  • I was on Loestrin before I got off BCP. I had no side effects from it, but I've heard lots of people have bad side effects w/ Yaz.
  • I used Loestrin before - a few years ago, and I don't remember anything too big happening. I also used Estrostep. My biggest side effect was loss of appetite (but not getting sick) and then I was an EVIL mean woman to everyone. But that was me : )

  • Hi Kelin-

I was on a brand I didn't know at all (I can't even remember the name now) but it wasn't as stong a dose as Yasmin.  I say make the switch.  I wasn't on BCP for 10 years because I always had a bad reaction to them.  What I took in February didn't affect me at all.

    Good luck!

  • I was on Ortho Lo. I really had no problems with it unless I took one of the first few pills on an empty stomach. It was mostly all in my head. I hope the new pills don't make you feel this way. Sad

  • Lo-estrin is the ONLY pill that didn't make me throw up, but I did feel slightly nauseas the first couple days I took it.  Junel and Microgestin are both generic lo-estrin.  I'd definitely try the switch!  Good Luck!
  • I agree with all pp's.  Make the switch to Lo-estrin.  I think it will be easier on your body as it's a lower dose of hormones. I'm sorry you've been throwing up.
