We have a few of these GIANT bees hanging out by our flowers, on our front porch. I look like an idiot every time one comes twords me. I duck and cover...due to my fear of giant insects.
Everyone I've talked to says they are harmless....
Bees (not wasps/hornets which they often get confused with) ARE harmless. They will only sting you as their last defense. As long as you don't swat at the you'll be fine.
My favorite thing for a while was standing in their flight path from the hive and having them bounce off me. :oD

I think I would pee my pants if this happenend to me! LOL
After 3 1/2 years of hope and prayers, our sweet baby girl is here!
My favorite thing for a while was standing in their flight path from the hive and having them bounce off me. :oD
I got stung way too often as a child, so this makes me cringe just a bit. (the wasps seemed to like our place... although I'm not sure exactly what I sit on that one time...)

The only time I've ever heard of them doing harm is when my brother stepped on one. Otherwise, I will continue to duck and cover, but have never been harmed physically (the emotional toll, however ...)

Hahaha! If I only had the courage to do that...

I still do this. They're a riot. I have watched them bounce into birds before, too. They're one of my favorite bees.
