yup. in-home daycares around here are much less expensive than centers, and i found them to be more accommodating in terms of following what i wanted for my son rather than what was "normal" or "policy". maybe that would be a good option for you?
i paid HALF as much for a day at the in-home center than i did at a center, and i got a discount at the center because i worked there! and i was a lot happier with how personalized his care was at the in-home too :-)

I will most definitely be looking into this. I've also thought about just finding college kids from the college I went to since I'll just need a few days a week. Thanks!

I know! When the boys were younger ( J was 2 1/2 yrs and C was 9 months) I was paying $2,000 per month. Now that they are older (and at a slightly cheaper center) I'm down to $1,375.
When Fisher was an infant, I had him in daycare 3 days a week . (but only for about 8 weeks) We paid $1100/mo for just him! Nuts! I only worked 20 hours a week so it took up quite a large chunk of my income.... making the decision to SAH much easier.
They are. Particularly the infant rates. And it blows my mind that here I can put S in a Montessori preschool at 2 for 1/4 of the price I can have her in daycare.
I take DS to an in-home daycare and it's much cheaper for us than going to a center. I'm working fulltime, but it still hurts to write that check every two weeks!

Yeah, we had the same dilemna with part-time work, and we found a cheap daycare that we liked! I ended up quitting work, it wasn't worth the meager $$ I brought home after daycare expenses.
Re: Holy crap daycare is expensive
oh no!! So far we have been lucky in finding something in our price range, but yeah it will still be sucha big hit!
