TTC After a Loss

Bleeding? really upset, would appreciate help...

Hi there everyone,

I know I"m not on here so much, but I was really hoping you all could help me. Just started bleeding today-- it's light, some minor cramping.  It's probably my period, but I was wondering if it's possible that it's implantation bleeding?  How can you tell the difference? Does cramping, even mild, mean it's not?  I had sore-ish boobs the last couple days, but that could go either way, right?

What makes me so upset is, of course, we want to be pregnant again (had 1st pg end in m/c last august), but also that it's at such an odd time.  I don't chart anymore (my temps were always at such different levels b/c of irregular sleep habits that it was impossible to use) but last week I was noticing a lot of EWCM so I bought OPKs and took several.  I never got an outright positive, but the line got pretty close on Friday eve, and then lighter and lighter ever since.  So I figured I ovulated sometime around Friday/Saturday.  We BD Thurs and Saturday.  So I wasn't expecting AF until at least 10 days from then.  Getting AF so close to apparent ovulation probably means Luteal Phase Defect, right?

Is it too soon for implantation bleeding? what signs should I look for to tell? and if it doesn't turn into an outright period, how many days from implantation should I take a pg test?

Sorry, this turned out to be rather long.  TIA for your help :)

    A positive HPT or AF.

  • There's really no way to determine if it's AF, implantation spotting, or simply breakthrough bleeding until after the fact of getting either full on AF or a bfp.

Without charting or a positive OPK it's really impossible to know when/if you O'd.

If you have an idea of how long your cycle normally is, I'd wait until the day after you think AF might be due to test.

  • Well first you might want to try charting again.  It will help your doctor tell if you do have a luteal phase defect or not.  Did you start taking OPK's on Friday or were there some before that?  It could be implantation bleeding, it's really hard for any of us to say.  I like to have a LP at least 12 days long, you can start testing anytime you like but most people won't get a positive until 9-10 dpo but some much later. When was your last cycle?  Good luck.

  • I don't really have any advice but I'm sorry the situation is so confusing.  I had implantation cramping but no bleeding when I got pregnant.  Have you had irregular periods since your m/c?  You might just be having an irregular period.  I got a positive pregnancy test 12 DPO.

    Yep.

Also, implantation bleeding happens around 9 dpo. If your period is "due" it is too late for IB.

  • If you ovulated Friday or Saturday, then it is too early for implantation bleeding.  The general thought is that implantation does not take place for at least a week after ovulation.

IMHO, I think you are getting your period and you didn't ovulate on Friday or Saturday.
