I'm going to say this...there is a part of me that thinks that not everyone is cut out to be the parent of a special needs child. In a small way, I appreciate when I parent understands what their limits are and respects them.
That being said, I would hope for a great deal of research, and understanding to go into a decision like that, not just "oops, problem, I can't deal". There are a million things that can be "wrong" with babies and children that can't be seen in a test. Some infants are SUPER NEEDY (not in a bad way, just in a difficult way), whereas a downs child might be very laid back and sweet.
I guess what I'm saying is that I appreciate that people THINK about these things ahead of time, I just hope they think about them hard enough.
I decided this was one instance I would keep my mouth shut: A) Because nothing I say is going to be nice she is already close minded about the other side of the issue by her qualifying statements and C) I don't have the time to follow it up should my statements create more heat.
done.

Yeah, like one of the posters there said, my response would probably get me banned.
Since there's so many posts, I just want to page her and say that. But making her upset won't help me. yada yada yada. lol
I started reading that, but it went on way too long - I gave up.

I read the first page and quit.
BTW, this is not me advocating abortion of babies with disabilities. I'm just recognizing that not everyone is capable of it.
I am also however a firm believer that you never know how strong you really are until you are tested...so I don't know. I'm talking in circles.
I was there, too. I couldn't bring myself to respond b/c I wouldn't be nice--at all!
My head hurts from reading (most of) it.

I just..don't have it in me to wade into that today. I read a couple of pages only.
