my tiny dining room. https://tinyurl.com/ygm45k3

ignore the current rug on the floor

here is the rug I think I like in BLUE/BROWN, 8x11 so it will cover a lot of floor in our 11x11 room

  • and when I mean 'someone with taste' I mean: I don't have any! and need opinions from those who do.
  • I like both just fine.  But obviously the bigger one will be better.

  • THE EXISting rug is gross, dude. I hate its guts.

also the new one, in the brown / blue is lovely- at first I clicked the link and thought that is WAY worse- but then I selected the color you intended, and I LOVED it.

it'll look GREAT! esp. with that fetching Thomas placemat!

I just giggled aloud during my work meeting, thank you. It is bad. It was free. And bad.

  • I guess I have no taste because I do not find the current rug all that repulsive.  Why do I not find it repulsive?
  • I love the rug!

That said, I am trying to picture it in your dining room.  From the measurements you gave, it will basically be wall to wall for part of the room, correct?  And there will be 1.5 feet open on the width side of the rug?  Without seeing how open the room is, I am concerned about the length part of the rug being wall to wall and no floor showing.

kitty, I got nothing...I think the right arts/crafts rug is out there...but that's not it!

Yodajo: GOOD POINT. I might need an 8x10. and then I have to search again. and then I will go insane.

  • I know how you feel.   I am trying to find a runner with a matching smaller rug and it is driving me batty.

Have you checked out overstock.com?  I hear good things about their rugs!

  • Do you guys eat your meals in there as a family every day?  If you do I wouldn't get a rug at all.  I think the room would look fine with the rug you picked but I think cleaning up the bare hardwood floor with a toddler and new baby would be much easier.  If you are worried about the chairs and table scratching the hardwood they well pads to put on the bottom of your furniture to prevent this.  I also think the room would look bigger without breaking up the flooring with a rug.

That's a good point. I don't know, I feel it looks unfinished a bit sans rug. My cousin has a dining room sans rug but her floors are really amazing -- her house is over 100 years old. My floors are 'ok' and need a little something something. well, something something is certainly going cost me something something.
